LA is the Creative Capital of the World
72andSunny collaborated with Mayor Garcetti and The Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles to stake LA’s claim as the world’s creative capital. Together we designed a logo and program that celebrates our city’s dynamic creators, brands and manufacturers, while raising money to support creative entrepreneurs in underserved communities.
Space To Create
LA never had an official symbol to reflects its modern identity. Our design is a canvas for creativity and an invitation for collaboration — it comes to life when filled with the people, places, and things that define LA today.
The Platform
The LA Original program is dedicated to helping support creative entrepreneur programs across Los Angeles.
All proceeds from the LA Original program received by the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles will go to supporting the Downtown Women’s Center’s “Made by DWC” program that teaches job training and maker skills to women transitioning out of homelessness.

What started as a modest logo design to be used on a water bottle to raise money and build awareness in the fight against the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline literally took on a life of its own. It was quickly adopted and used in grassroots banners for protest marches. And as the fight gained momentum it was proposed to be the main element used by John Quigley also working with the Cowboy-Indian Alliance and Bold Nebraska to create a massive piece of crop art sending a message to President Obama: No KXL! It then became the centerpiece in marketing used in the Harvest The Hope benefit concert held on Art Tanderups farm. The very same farm where the massive art installation lived. One of the many farms, waterways and Indian lands the Keystone XL pipeline is threatening. Add Willie Nelson, Neil Young headlining along with supporting acts Lucas Nelson & The Promise of The Real and Frank Waln the Harvest The Hope #NoKXL Benefit was a success! And the fight and awareness were indeed ramping up to say the least.
